Vermont Technical College

Judd Hall

Summary

The Judd Hall project, at Vermont Technical College in Randolph, Vermont, was a retrofit of an existing gymnasium. It included a complete mechanical upgrade, envelope improvements, renovation of public restrooms and conversion of the gym space into a high end multi-purpose room that serves as both recreation space for students and convention space to hold conferences, presentations, movies and other events.

The project was completed on a compressed schedule while school was in session. Bread Loaf phased the work to keep the adjoining offices operational throughout, as well as, maintaining operation of the school bookstore.

Work included structural upgrades, excavation and under slab piping, a new electrical service, a new entry, and six inches of rigid insulation around the entire perimeter of the existing building. A new mechanical room was incorporated, the stage space was reconfigured, locker rooms were converted to public handicap accessible restrooms, and a handicap lift was installed.
