NRG Systems

You and your team have been very thorough and professional on a project with very challenging environmental, budget and schedule constraints. Bread Loaf exceeded our expectations and was a very major part of the success of the NRG project.

Summary

NRG Systems designs and manufactures precision instruments for the wind turbine industry. This progressive company selected Bread Loaf to build their new office and manufacturing facility. NRG required that construction methods and materials must be friendly to the environment and that the building’s own internal environment must be a healthy workplace for their employees.

NRG set a high standard – to become one of the few buildings in America certified as a LEED™ Gold project. The Bread Loaf project team helped achieve that goal through energy conservation, renewable energy use, optimum indoor air quality, minimal site disturbance, construction waste management and recycling, recycled content material use, FSC-certified wood use and innovative use of daylight.

Green Building/Sustainable Design

  • Achieved LEED™ Gold Certification
  • Photo-voltaic panels on the southern roof generate solar power which NRG can net-meter back to the electric utility
  • Radiant heating and radiant cooling tubes are imbedded in floors through-out the building, minimizing electrical consumption
  • The cost of waste disposal was significantly reduced by Bread Loaf’s Construction Waste Recycling Program, which promoted recycling and reduction of landfill waste
