Addison County Community Trust
Armory Lane Senior Housing
Summary
Bread Loaf provided Construction Management services to the Armory Lane Housing Limited Partnership. The Armory Lane Housing Limited Partnership represented a development collaborative between Housing Vermont and the Addison County Community Trust which utilized Low Income Housing Tax Credits and HUD Section 202 funding resources supportive of housing for the elderly.
The three-story, 25,000 square foot building provides 25 senior apartments, including 20 one-bedroom and 5 two-bedroom units, and common spaces. The design offers many attractive amenities for the residents: a community room for meals and activities; a shared country kitchen for small family get-togethers; a library; several lounges; a patio; and, an expansive porch.
Sustainable energy solutions, including a solar domestic hot water system, a wood pellet boiler and energy star appliances are some of the features which enhance the energy efficiency of this senior housing facility.
The building serves as a hub for the Addison County Meals-on-Wheels program and the community room will host bingo, lunch and exercise events for 40 - 60 area seniors. The first floor also has a medical exam/consulting room available for visiting nurses and physicians for addressing seniors’ routine medical needs on-site.
